Long Island Holidays
Long Island is small, secluded, tropical and incredibly beautiful. With a national park full of incredible walking tracks leading to beautiful secluded beaches, the island is the perfect destination if you just want to unwind or to reconnect with nature. Regular high speed catamaran services connects the island with the Great Barrier Reef Airport (Hamilton Island), a comfortable 35 minutes travel time. Or, you can fly to Proserpine/Whitsunday Coast Airport, travel by coach to Shute Harbour and then a ferry to Long Island. There's also a scenic route option with an exhilarating Helicopter transfer.
Long Island Must Do's
Explore Long Island's National Park. The Park areas of the island have graded walking trails to facilitate easy access to the more remote areas of the island.
Pack a gourmet picnic lunch and travel in your own boat to explore the secluded bays and private beaches.
Go Ocean Rafting. You'll enjoy swimming and snorkelling in beautiful beaches and bays. Relax on world famous Whitehaven Beach. Snorkel at the pristine fringing reef at Border Island (away from the crowds), and take an informative guided walk to the sacred aboriginal cave at Nara Inlet.
Treat yourself to a massage. The island boasts a couple of great spas so you should be able to find one to relax and rejuvenate during your trip.
Go snorkelling and enjoy views of the coral reef just 150 metres off the shore. Snorkels, fins and other equipment is easily available.
